What is PascalCase?
PascalCase (also called UpperCamelCase or StudlyCaps) capitalises the first letter of every word and removes all spaces. Unlike camelCase, even the first word starts with an uppercase letter.
| Input | PascalCase output |
|---|---|
| hello world | HelloWorld |
| user profile settings | UserProfileSettings |
| http request handler | HttpRequestHandler |
| my button component | MyButtonComponent |
Where PascalCase is used
- Class names in virtually all languages (Python, Java, C#, JavaScript, TypeScript, Swift, Kotlin)
- React components: MyComponent, UserCard, NavigationBar
- TypeScript interfaces and types: UserProfile, ApiResponse
- C# methods (unlike most other languages, C# uses PascalCase for public methods)
- Enum values in many style guides
